Adriane was thorough and had only my health in mind. We talked initially about vitamins which I definitely needed as I’ve been prescribing them to myself. I shared relevant information about my food so she knows where we need to go from here. We set up a 15-week plan for visits and she told me what we’ll cover next week. I’m thrilled to be working with her.

I have been counseled by Diana at Nourish Family Nutrition for a little over a year. And for the first time in a very long time, I feel comfortable with myself. It’s not because of the weight loss (though that is really fantastic), it’s because I am making really smart choices about how I treat my body. And that feels good.

We started out by figuring out my metabolic resting rate. That was super eye opening. I figured that at my age, my metabolism had all but stopped. But I discovered this wasn’t true at all. It was very motivating from the start. (This process is kind of weird and you drool a bit, but it was worth the extra expense for me. I wanted to know my baseline to see what I was working with.)

And I have a degree in Health Education so it’s not like I don’t know how to read labels or count fat grams. I understand portion control. But Diana has given me real solutions that have just become part of my lifestyle. I lost sixteen pounds in the first two months, and that was just by making smarter food and portion choices. That is all…it was mid-winter so starting a new exercise routine was out of the question. I have never felt hungry or like I was ripped off with half a meal.

Most of my work experience has been (in one way or another) customer service related so I am not very patient with those who do it poorly. Diana is more than just my nutrition-guru. I consider her a friend.

You’ll be glad you started going here. And so will your hips 🙂

I have worked with Diana off and on since having my first baby six years ago. I appreciate Diana’s approach to nutrition – a mix of science and mindfulness. I’ve done Weight Watchers a number of times, and I was never successful despite following the plan. Diana helped me find out that I wasn’t eating enough calories. She got me set up with the optimal calorie range and ideal combination of protein, carbs, and fats. She has worked with me over the years to adjust these numbers as needed based on my lifestyle changes. Perhaps most importantly, Diana changed the way I look at food. I grew up in a household where food was often restricted and my stepmom was always on a fad diet. Through working with Diana, I learned to eat mindfully and to not use my eating as a form of judgment. This view, I believe, was the key to my success. After having my second child, I lost 50 pounds through mindful eating and exercise. When I went for my physical last year, my cholesterol was normal for the first time in my adult life. I am preparing to run my fourth half marathon in a couple of weeks. Diana provided the knowledge and support I needed for a true lifestyle change. I’m not only proud of my accomplishments, but I am also happy to have the knowledge to pass down to my children so they don’t grow up with the same unhealthy thoughts about food, exercise, and body image that I did.

Diana has helped me to get off of my medications for diabetes and high cholesterol. I was able to finally lose weight and keep it off. She provided lots of support along my journey, as well as recipes, food lists and was available between appointments to check in by phone and email. I highly recommend her!

I started working with my dietitian as soon as I left ED treatment, and it was the best decision I could have made for myself in my recovery. I was definitely afraid of going, but thankfully my dietitian dispelled my preconceived notions. Through my ups and downs of recovery, and there have been many, she has continued to meet me where I’m at and encourage me. I remember the first time I had a “down”, I was reluctant to tell her as I thought she would be angry at me. The very opposite happened.

I am forever thankful to Nourish Family, especially to Melanie, for working with me on the hard but good road to recovery.

I recommend them 1000%.

Ps, the office in Towson is cozy and beautiful.

I just started working with Caroline. I had a great initial consult. She asked lots of questions and answered all my questions we developed a list of reasonable and attainable goals that I’m sure we will adjust as our work progresses. I look forward to continuing to work with her and working towards reducing current chronic issues and mitigating future issues. I also appreciate that she offered options for what to eat when I don’t feel like eating. Rather than skip a meal because I’m not hungry I can do a protein shake. Caroline didn’t advocate for restricting food groups but rather making smart choices. She literally said to eat more food. If I go to dunkin get the egg bites and the bagel, bring a piece of fruit too.

Caroline is top notch medical support. I have always felt she has my best interest in mind. She’s thorough, consistent, and very understanding.  She makes me feel like she’s in my corner every step of the way. As I experience the ups and downs on this journey, Caroline is always there to help me understand the complexities of my body in regards to weight loss. She’s an active listener and offers her clinical expertise to get me back on track. In addition, she uses her clinical knowledge to make appropriate referrals when needed. She has never once been judgmental and always brings positivity to everything we cover. Her support has literally changed my life. The extra unexpected result is the ripple effect weight loss has had on my family. From her unwavering support, my family members have benefited from this encouragement as I pass on all the good vibes, the learned mindset, habits and knowledge. I wish everyone could have access to this support and knowledge!

What services do nutritionists in Baltimore offer?

Nutritionists in Baltimore provide a variety of services aimed at improving dietary habits and overall health. They can offer personalized meal plans, conduct nutritional assessments, and provide counseling for weight management. Additionally, they may assist with specific dietary needs related to chronic diseases or athletic performance.

How do I choose the right nutritionist for my needs?

Choosing the right nutritionist involves considering multiple factors. Start by identifying your specific needs, such as weight loss, cholesterol management, or sports nutrition. Research potential nutritionists' qualifications, experience, and specializations. Scheduling an initial consultation can also help assess their compatibility with your goals.

What qualifications should a nutritionist have?

An effective nutritionist typically holds a degree in nutrition or a related field and may also be a registered dietitian (RD). Credentials from accredited organizations, such as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, are essential. Furthermore, it’s important to ensure the nutritionist is licensed to practice in Baltimore or the state of Maryland.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance in Baltimore?

Coverage for nutrition services varies by insurance provider and plan. Some insurance plans may cover visits to a registered dietitian for specific medical conditions, such as diabetes or heart disease. It's advisable to contact your insurance company directly to verify the extent of coverage available for nutritional counseling.

Can nutritionists help with weight loss?

Absolutely, nutritionists can play a crucial role in weight loss. They develop personalized meal plans and provide ongoing support and accountability. By taking into account individual lifestyle factors, preferences, and health conditions, they help clients establish realistic goals and sustainable eating habits that promote long-term success.

What can I expect during my first visit to a nutritionist?

During your first visit to a nutritionist in Baltimore, you can expect an initial consultation that typically includes a comprehensive nutritional assessment. This may involve discussing your medical history, current dietary habits, and specific health goals. The nutritionist may also ask for details about your lifestyle and preferences to tailor their recommendations effectively.

How often should I see a nutritionist?

The frequency of visits to a nutritionist can vary based on individual goals and needs. Initially, more frequent visits may be beneficial to establish a nutritional plan and monitor progress. Once you have developed a consistent routine, sessions may become less frequent, occurring monthly or quarterly for check-ins and ongoing support.

Are online consultations with nutritionists effective?

Online consultations can be effective for many individuals seeking nutritional support. They provide convenience and flexibility, allowing you to engage with a nutritionist from the comfort of your home. Many nutritionists utilize video calls or telehealth platforms to maintain personalized communication and offer tailored advice.

How can nutritionists help with chronic health conditions?

Nutritionists can assist with managing chronic health conditions by providing targeted dietary advice and support. They create custom meal plans that align with specific medical needs, such as managing high blood pressure, diabetes, or digestive disorders. Collaboration with other healthcare providers ensures a comprehensive approach to your health management.

What is the difference between a nutritionist and a dietitian?

The terms nutritionist and dietitian are often used interchangeably, but they can refer to different qualifications. A registered dietitian (RD) has completed specific educational and professional standards, including supervised practice and passing a national exam. In contrast, the title "nutritionist" can be used by individuals with various levels of training, so it's vital to verify qualifications when seeking nutritional advice.
