I went here with 4 others and have never been more disappointed by a restaurant. We ordered two apps to start, the potstickers (6 small pieces for $21) and the chicken satay (4 small skewers for $21). The apps came shortly after our drinks arrived but we weren’t given any silverware or plates. Our server brought us silverware after we asked but said she was trying to find us plates still. We ended up eating all the apps before we were ever given small plates because we were tired of waiting. Next came out the entrees, or at least one of them. The shrimp tacos (a “main” for $25 came with three tiny tacos) arrived at the table but no one else was given their food for another 6 minutes. Once the rest of the food did arrive, the only hot item was the fries. The chips that came with the french dip were soggy and bendable. I tuna and salmon on the sushi & salad was inedible. The burgers were meh with not much topping on it for $26. This was a terrible experience for myself and everyone else in my group, none of us will be returning.

Went for Sushi Sunday with a few friends and the sushi was surprisingly amazing. We got the Fire Dragon and the Sunset. BOMB! Great place to gather with friends for a pregame snack and drink.

It’s a NO for me! Where do I start… First, don’t be fooled by the prices and think you’ll get something amazing, lower your standard way way below average!! I don’t know if it was an off night or what but we had an issue with almost everything we ordered. We tried the meatballs on mashed potatoes, the poke bowl, margarita flight and house fries. The meatballs came out cold and the manager ended up taking them off the bill. The poke bowl was one of the biggest disappointments I’ve had in a while, trust me I know a good poke bowl when I see it. The fries were okay and way overpriced. LASTLY, the margaritas weren’t frozen anymore when we got them which means they sat at the bar for too long, and the cherry on top was finding a freaking fly in one of them, a whole fat FLY, just chilling there either passed out drunk or dead, I couldn’t finish the other ones after seeing it.

So bad it’s difficult to even find the words. Highly recommend you do not waste time or money. Spent over $100 and walked out without eating or drinking almost any of the food. Do not make bad reviews often. One star is more than it deserves

We came in with high hopes based on the prior reviews and the website and menu. Unfortunately, we were quickly disappointed. The service was lack luster at first with our waitress not being very attentive. She made a few mistakes with our meal such as forgetting our appetizer, not coming to check on us after delivering our food, and not ensuring the food was correct and of good quality. I ordered their yellowfin tuna steak, a seasonal special. It was completely overcooked and unedible. Basically tough canned tuna. I sent it back and decided not to reorder. They kindly gave me a new meal on the house to show how the meal should have been cooked. I got it to go. It looks much better and after trying it, it tasted much better. Their manager and assistant manager handled the situation very well and I appreciate their kindness and great customer service. Their assistant manager really shined through and saved the meal with his jokes and sparkling personality. I wish things could have been better but I appreciate the staff for working so hard.

One of my favorite places to get variety. The seafood selection, sushi, fruit is good good. The drinks the Sprite was not filtered properly, and the Coke, left a nasty taste, so water will be my go too
Lakeysha Alford

I have never been to a restaurant in my entire life as worst as this place. I got me a to-go box which had included Mac & Cheese and green beans. I got home excited to eat and I found what’s is to believe is, roach poop dripping in my gd Mac & cheese. And stale fortune cookies they put in the bag. Will NEVER return again! You can take your chances with this place if you want but do your homework and read the reviews first as I should’ve before going to dine.
Danielle White

If you’re looking for a place to enjoy seafood, this is the right place, but they don’t have air conditioners
PHILIP EZE

The food tastes like grass plus bad service from the lady in front
No AC And before you get in, there’s a bad smell outside. That’s a big No for us.
Leticia Chicas

The food is old, cold and half the sea food dishes were so overcooked you couldn’t chew them. The server took our drinks away before we were finished. The prime rib was tougher than a dry pot roast. The meat loaf and ribs resembled dog food. For two adults and a child it cost over $50 and the best dishes there came out of an instant box. Avoid this place!

Best ramen in Baltimore. Or should I say best ramen spot for us in general! We live in Richmond now but I lived in Bmore for 4 years in which I started going to Kippo since 2016. We love their spicy miso ramen aka the best ramen we’ve ever had. Everything from the miso broth to the simple condiments like corn and green onions taste so amazing! Haven’t tried much else because the spicy miso is all we get so can’t speak for much else. Get the spicy miso with pork broth, you won’t regret it. We went to Bmore for a weekend trip recently and went to Kippo day after day because we missed it so much. Service is always attentive and there are cool decorations and such in the restaurant including an anime playing on the projector. I can’t wait to come back again!
Esther

Wonderful ramen spot in downtown Baltimore. Wait staff is very responsive and kind. Can’t recommend the red and black pork broth ramen enough! Definitely a go to option to melt away the incoming chilly weather.
DriftedHorizon

This place offers really great ramen and a good variety of ramen. We ordered the tako-yaki, wings, seaweed salad and dumplings to start. All were great, especially the wings. We also ordered the Naruto Miso Tonkotsu, Tokyo Tonkotsu and Curry Tonkotsu, all very flavorful and delicious.
They offer limited alcoholic drink options but their sparking sake is great, if you don’t mind a sweet carbonates drink.
Their prices are affordable and the service is great. This is perfect place to come to for casual and quick dinning.
I’ve been coming to Kippo for a couple years now and will definitely continue to return.

We’re vegetarian had the edamame spicy garlic was super awesome spicy miso was also decent.

Food was good… I liked the potato croquettes the best. The ramen was good as well but I’ve had better. Noodles are very firm which many like. The service from Alex was exceptional and excellent. She paid attention to details and made sure to be helpful. I truly appreciated her efforts. The seating is plentiful and the ambiance was good for a ramen shop.

This is AMAZING. This was my second time, just to make sure I went on a busy day. Service was still pretty good and the managers are awesome too. Great food. GREAT food. My sibling fell in love too. Great prices, not too expensive, and the place has a nice atmosphere too. We went on a Friday and a Saturday. We ordered 5 apps and 3 ramen. Worth the stop, try it!! P.S. the food presentation was great too!

If I could give Ramen Utsuke a 10 star, I would. This was by far the BEST ramen that I ever had. Customer service was spectacular. The team culture is 10/10. I loved seeing the team work together and serve the way they did. Absolutely incredible! Do not doubt that you will have an incredible experience and to top it off incredible food.

This. is. so. delicious.
I’m only in Baltimore on a business trip and visited Ramen Utsuke as it was near the hotel and I wanted to try Ramen. And then I came here almost every second day.
The Ramen (what’s the plural?) are all extremely tasty and always come as a little piece of art. Staff is really friendly, attentive and with a good overview.
I love this place and will come back when I’m in the city.
Jens Vaupee

It was amazing! I went two years ago while on a trip to the aquarium and it has lived in my mind ever since. This was my first ramen outside of packets and it had so much more depth. After I went back to my state, I have been going to other ramen shops every chance I get to try and find the flavor I found here and I can’t. Nothing compares. The broth was so rich and the portions will keep you full even if you don’t have sides, though those are delicious too. If you’re in the area, be sure to stop by! You don’t know how tempted I am go to on another trip just for this shop lol

Wonderful food, amazing service, great presentation and beautiful setting. The service was top notch with a lot of extra touches. We celebrated my birthday here and they added a huge candle to our sushi platter, and a delicious dessert with a personalized hand written card! Can’t wait to return and try more things on the menu! Highly recommend!.

Amazing experience here. I Had the chefs intro which comes with 9 dishes. I also had an Amazing waitress named Valeriya. Make sure you ask for her as she was on top of it. They are also dietary and allergy conscious which makes the dishes taste that much better. Every dish was amazing but the desert blew me away. Please try this desert (green macha tiramisu) as you won’t be disappointed.
Nathan Sarkisian

Incredible ambiance! We came for a birthday & our bartender Jackie really helped make our experience special. The food was amazing, My Favorite thing was the wagyu fried Rice. I plan on trying more of their sashimi on my next visit.
Cam “Camwitthecam”

Really delish sushi at an upscale venue.
I find the decoration inside to be a bit put-on and as an event. Dark and moody.
The place is also aggressively overpriced. The sushi is fresh, but as someone who eats it a lot you are paying way more than needed. 6 pieces of a nigiri tuna taster was $54. At these prices – if you care – you’re better off booking a flight to Japan and eating it there. You’d save a buck.
Jakob W. Plummer

Wait staff was attentive and patient–helping us think through our options, asking if there were any dietary restrictions and serving nine courses! They really made my daughter feel special on her birthday and the for all the food we tried it was truly worth the price.

This sushi spot is a real gem, offering a wide variety that’s sure to satisfy any sushi lover. The sakura-themed ambiance is charming and adds a cozy touch to the experience. For the price, it’s well worth it. The only small gripe is that the drinks could be a tad better, but overall, it’s a fantastic place to indulge in some quality sushi.
Tanay Nayak

Absolutely love Yama they are one of the only places that makes soft crab correctly I’ve been to places that actually served me a raw softcrab they clean it cut it and the flavor is amaze. Shuami and shrimp dumplings are also good appetizers
Danielle Jones

Somehow we have never been to Yama. We are so glad to have finally gone. We went on a Friday evening and had a short 10-15 minute wait for a table. Once we were seated, everything was great. Our server was super nice, quick and great at helping with menu questions.
The offered a nice small cucumber salad as a starter, then we ordered two appetizers. The Peppered Tuna was insanely good! Peppery and spicy, a perfect bite. Even the asparagus underneath was great. We also ordered the Shumai, delicious tiny pork dumplings, also quite good.
For dinner, we ordered a few standard rolls and a few specialty rolls. The spicy tuna and spicy salmon were both very good. We ordered the Ocean roll, Supreme Roll, Green Dragon and the Bumblebee. Wow, they were all so good, perhaps the least impressive was the Green Dragon, not bad, just kinda bland. The other three were so good and impressed all 3 of us. We felt “not too full” after dinner so decided to sample a couple of the desserts. We got the fried cheesecake, it was ok, the cheesecake was good, the crust was not as good. We also got strawberry mochi and they were so tasty and the chewy coating was fun. Recommend.
We look forward to coming back to Yama soon!
My complaint to the owners of this restaurant is this: In 2024 to not have refills on soda is ridiculous. Everyone knows that soda is super cheap. Your $1.50 is a good price, but charge $2 and allow for refills.
Edward Zarkowski

This is my favorite Sushi Restaurant! Its ambiance and charm are relaxing. The food is always fresh and delicious, and the variety is perfect! They have a great selection of both alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. It’s very clean. The management, chefs and servers are kind, attentive and helpful! The prices are very reasonable for the superb quality of food and beverages. The parking isn’t always the best, only because it’s located in a small shopping plaza on a city block, but don’t allow that to deter you from checking Yama Sushi Bar out, it’s a total gem ❣️

Been here a handful of times. The fish is always fresh. Sometimes it’s hard to get our waitress’ attention.

Easily some of the best sushi I’ve ever had! Everything tasted so fresh and delicious that I wished I had a bigger stomach. The unagi here is absolutely amazing and may have ruined all future unagi rolls for me. I’d also really like to highlight the baked mussels which had such a powerful punch of umami flavor to it. Packed on a weekday and for good reason. Service might have been a little slow but again PACKED and I saw like a dozen carry out orders while I was waiting. My only regret is not ordering more and then just getting a to-go box
Alex Fashandi

My favorite go-to sushi restaurant in Maryland. The fish is super fresh and rice is perfectly cooked. Simple but delicious.
Katherine Lee

Food:
The sushi here is so good. It’s some of the best I’ve had since moving to Baltimore. My favorite (so far) is the R (Roll) Lewis. The unagi and soft shell crab are also wonderful.
Service:
The server was attentive, never letting our water run out. Our food came out quickly, and the extra roll we ordered before we left arrived fast and packaged well.
Atmosphere:
We didn’t get to see the whole restaurant, as we sat near the entrance. The chair felt a bit uncomfortable. But other than that, the atmosphere was pleasant and inviting.

Uni sushi is very good, Shoyou style baked lobster roll must try!

Very cool, chill sushi bar. Chill vibes as the restaurant has high ceilings with bright colors and unique art. Intimate tables or spots for groups, there is more seating in the back past the bar. Great happy hour specials on food and drinks. Excellent, chefs kiss menu that is authentic sushi and Japanese food. Delicious. The service was on point. I already can’t wait to go back.
Tiffany Joi

Seafood is big here in Baltimore, so I wanted to make sure I stopped by a few seafood and sushi restaurants. Minato was one of the highly touted sushi/happy hour restaurants in the city, so it was a no-brainer to go. Also, it was within walking distance from my sisters apartment, so that is an added bonus.
I loved how the restaurant was decorated. It is huge despite what it looks like from outside. The restaurant is long and narrow *pause* and there are, what seems like, an infinite amount of seats there. The ceilings illuminate different colors, and the walls have a way blue pattern. The whole restaurant is extremely pleasing to the eye. From the decor to the color pallete, everything is gorgeous.
The service was great. Our server Cherry was extremely attentive. At one point, my sister expressed displeasure with her drink, and Cherry was quick to make another right away to my sister’s pleasure. I think the server was new, but was knowledgeable and extremely present. The happy hour menu is huge. There are a ton of options to choose from. We had quite the spread including: Edamame, Spring Roll, Shumai, Curry Chicken Dumpling, and the Rolex Sushi Roll. The food was decent, it is not the best sushi I ever had, but for the value, it is well worth it. Their prices for everything are great for your pockets, even the drinks are extremely cheap, which I find is a lost art in the happy hour game. I should mention, however, the drinks are not strong at all, so this isn’t the place to get wasted when you had a bad day at work lol. Perfect hang out place for friend groups or a calm after work date.

The sushi here is wonderful the other stuff is tolerable. They do have a wonderful happy hour deal from 4-7PM I believe all days but Sunday! The prices are more than reasonable. This spot is right around the corner from my house so it’s the go to place for sushi that is yummy and a good priced. I have dined in once and the service and vibe were
Toteona Gray

Casual sushi bar with a great happy hour on weekdays. Average 5$ a plate for a variety of dumplings and uramaki, along with other appetizers. 7$ cocktails and reasonably priced Japanese beer, sake, wine. We tried 4 plates of steamed dumplings – pork gyozas and crab shumai and 3 plates of sushi – all for under 40$. Flavour was on-point, and the gzoya were heavenly. Our servers were real friendly and quick to help 🙂
Aarushi Saxena

Happy hour here has a great selection and actual Happy Hour pricing. Rolls can be purchased for about $7 and drinks are also very affordable.
Pair this with the modern decor and quiet setting and you have a very classy after work spot for cocktails and Sushi.
I had spicy Tuna, Boston, and california rolls. The sushi taste was awesome and looked great.
For my meal I had the Teriyaki Chicken which was really good and a good size portion. This was not on the happy hour menu but was def worth a try.
I had a mango Martini and a cosmo for my drinks. Both drinks were strong as an ox even tho I missed my martini glass.
I will be back for lunch to see about their bento box. Or maybe for happy hour again to try the large assortment of dumplings 😉

It’s been months since the last time I went there, but from what I remember it was really nice. I mainly just got the Poke Salad and various kinds of sushi though. Never actually had ramen or anything else. Still, it was delicious and the quality was awesome. One thing I would note is that if you get the Poke Salad to go, they put the soy sauce in a container rather than pouring it out into the bottom of the dish. Personally, I don’t like that much salt lol. I’m sure you could probably ask them not to do that in the restaurant but if you don’t know about it ahead of time… Anyway, the reason I don’t go there anymore is just about the price difference between Akira Ramen and Harris Teeter(which is across the parking lot). If you want to go to a fancy Japanese restaurant and have a nice meal, obviously Akira is much better. Their prices aren’t bad at all, but they can’t compare to a grocery store. Especially not on a Friday, when you can get 10 pieces of spicy tuna roll for 5 dollars at Harris Teeter. The Poke Salad is actually cheaper at Akira Ramen though. Which is something to keep in mind. Even when you add in tip and tax, it’s probably still cheaper, unless you’re a generous tipper. If you weren’t worried about tipping, I think the Poke Salad was 10 dollars the last time I went. Maybe 10.50, probably 11-something with tax. They also sell seaweed salad for 6 dollars, I think? Which is about the same price as Harris Teeter but I haven’t compared the sizes. Their Poke Salad is almost only fish and some lettuce, with some tiny apple pieces. Harris Teeter has a bunch of rice, a little seaweed salad, some fish and some artificial crab mixed together in a relatively larger and heavier container. It will fill you up, but I think the ingredients are probably cheaper overall compared to Akira’s version.
My go-to order from Akira would be a Poke Salad, some type of sushi roll(6 pieces for about 4-6 dollars), and a seaweed salad. I like to mix the three together. The Poke Salad doesn’t come with any wasabi, but that might just be because I didn’t ask for it due to social anxiety lmao. Seriously, it’s so hard for me to ask for stuff like that… But I think a lot of people are that way too. Also I’d be afraid it’d cost extra no matter what I asked for? Maybe other people would know.

The gyoza was seared nicely, the vegetable spring rolls had little flavor, the shumai was flavorless and had no texture, the Black Dragon roll was awesome tasting, the Dynamite was basically white rice and tuna and the hot saki was good. The service was adequate.

Nothing great. Very basic and the veg rolls aren’t that great. The service isn’t great as they take a long time to get you your beer but your ramen comes earlier! expensive sake and nothing for happy hour. / typical chinese place

Delicious, fast, and friendly service. We were visiting Baltimore MD, while out and about saw Akira Ramen & Izakaya restaurant in a Target run. We were able to get a booth right away. The place is very cozy and inviting. We placed our orders and within a few minutes here they come. Staff is very efficient and the food was delicious! I definitely recommend!

Maybe it wasn’t a good day for them , but i definitely wouldn’t come here again . I will say , the server was very friendly and nice , but the food was definitely not what I was expecting. The chicken was flavorless and ramen seemed very cheap . Not savory or flavorful at all . I had to give back 2 things I ordered because i honestly just couldn’t stomach it , which was the chicken and Maryland roll . I tolerated the ramen but only bc I was really hungry .the shrimp tempura also lacked in flavor. The portions were very small , the spring rolls only come out in two and they’re just cut in half to look like it’s more . Even getting the bill , they wouldn’t take off all the food we returned but they tried to compensate us with at 10% off next time I come but i honestly don’t think I will be coming back .

Back to where it all started. Hubby and I first date was here 7 years ago. 7 years later, we are still enjoying this restaurant. The food is always delicious. The portions are large, and the restaurant is clean.
The staff are always welcoming and friendly.
There is plenty of free parking outside of the establishment.
I recommend Arigato!

SERIOUSLY!! GO HERE! It is small but what it lacks in space it more than makes up for in food, service and atmosphere. My server Agnes was the best. She was funny and very warm and welcoming. The food….OMG I cant say enough. It was GREAT! Beware the portion sizes are HUGE! It is enough to share and still have leftovers. This is a hidden gem.

Just stopped in for a quick and different lunch. I ordered the Hibachi Scallops and side salad. The noodles, fried rice, broccoli and carrots, scallops were delicious. I couldn’t finish, so much went home. The service was great as well!

OMGGGGGGGGG, what a pleasure it was dining in at Arigato. We finally got a chance to go and we loved our food. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. We were able to eat off of our leftovers 3 times because the portions were huge! It’s not a fancy spot (which is fine by me) but the service and food was excellent which is all you can ask for when dining out . We will be back for sure!
