Customer Reviews

Dr. Buethe has excellent bedside manner. I became very emotional about my diagnosis and he was very compassionate to what I was going through. He is also very patient and knowledgeable about my diagnosis and gave some great treatment methods.

After waiting over 2 months for an appointment with Dr. Buethe for a cancer screening due to a concerning spot my appointment was canceled the day before because I was being forced to see the other doctor who I saw Once for 2 minutes and did not have a good experience with. This is a horrible way to deal with patients. And to note - I have seen Both of these doctors so it’s not like one has more experience with me than the other. One doctor approached me as cold as ice and the other canceled the day before. Pretty disappointing.

I rarely leave comments on google unless requested however Douglas Buethe has become an immediate exception to this. so from beginning to end I recently worked with him after not seeing him for a long time because of the resolution of my issue via clobetasol(Most recent visit was back in 2019 to address eczema).
I had spoke with one of his representative after my eczema returned and my clobetasol prescription expired and the earliest appointment was the following wednesday which was pretty fine with me. We had a succinct and cordial conversation and that was the end of that.
Fast forward to the day of the appt and I was prepared and ready 15 minutes before. I wait until the time of the appointment and…nothing. at this point I’m assuming he’s working with a patient and is stuck in that appointment which is totally understandable. 15 Minutes pass and I begin to get a little frustrated because I was hoping to get in touch with my endocrinologist before he left for the day to discuss something regarding my brain tumor. I call the staff and politely ask what the holdup is with my appointment. They say that he is working with a customer a little late and i’m like okay thats fine.
40 MINUTES LATER I’m still not in my appointment and now I’m frustrated and I voice my frustration to the staff while still in a respectful yet stern manner(at this point my endo has left and now that is something wiped from my day that was pretty important). 5 minutes later he finally calls and he immediately begins discussing my previous dermatology appointments and etc. My opening response Is wow no apology about being late then discussing my issues.
We finish the appointment and I’m prescribed my prescriptions and He tells me once that I have to visit him every 6 months for prescription renewal which is fine. well last night I was looking into my after visit notes and in the notes he states that I was harassing his staff and that I was Non-compliant. at this point I’m baffled at the fact that he would actually lie and say that I was in any way harassing anyone because I am one of those Gen Z’ers that hate people that harrass staff because the job is not easy and I myself am in a customer facing role. I know he felt the desire to lie because I said wow no apology during my appointment which is crazy and he also said in the notes that I was frustrated because I had to wait while not adding that I waited 40 minutes.
The fact that his ego is so fragile that a small and justified comment is enough to warrant lying In notes that OTHER FUTURE DOCTORS CAN SEE is absolutely crazy. This is a pretty pitiful display coming from a reputable hospital like mercy. And my appointments with Dr.Buethe will be coming to an immeidate end.

I am highly upset. While Dr. Buethe was kind, his staff lacks compassion and empathy. I have a baby and had to take care of him because I can’t leave him by himself while my husband finished an important meeting. I will say while I was 5 min over the grace period (most places it’s 15 min and I errored and theirs is 10 min), I already e-checked in the night before. I sometimes have to wait at most 30-45 min to be seen and I had to reschedule because of 5 minutes. The front desk person seemed like they were on a mission to be a jerk. It’s June and now I can’t be seen until October.

I have booked multiple appointments 6 months- 1 year ahead of time and they have cancelled my appointment multiple successive times. They also have an insane wait. ALSO, got two moles removed recently by him and 1 came back and the other has a terrible scar. I do not recommend whatsoever.
