This past summer, hubby and I celebrated his birthday with alfresco dining in the Ivy-walled courtyard at The Ivy Hotel.
I’m back again at The Ivy Hotel on a Sunday when the restaurant is typically closed to experience the elegance of Afternoon Tea.
Our tea expert, Emma, took the time to provide detailed information about the loose teas available and the savory bites. We amplified our tea experience with a bottle of Rose. Thank you, Emma, for your attention to detail; we appreciate your knowledge.
Typically, only the Ivy Hotel guests can access all the beautiful rooms inside the historic mansion.
Our group of four was treated to a tour of all the main rooms and an unoccupied guest room. All I can say is how fabulous the astonishing mansion character is maintained.
The Ivy Hotel recently received Michelin’s two key recognitions for its Excellence in dining, accommodations, and Spa.
Finally:

A most wonderful experience. The hotel is lovely. My room was beautiful. The staff is extremely helpful. I used their complimentary car service. Breakfast and tea are included as well as all amenities and drinks, snacks in room. The Magdalena restaurant was charnibg and delicious. Highly recommend.

Exceeds all expectations! I have lived down the street from The Ivy for years and was intimidated to come in because it looked so nice. I’m so glad I finally did. My husband gifted us a night here for my birthday and it was absolutely incredible. The service was beyond and you truly feel like you’re their most important guest. We then decided to host our wedding here and it was excellent as well. Very pleasant to work with their team and plan, and they were able to be flexible with potentially bad weather. Between our families we had about six rooms and everyone raved about their experiences. We’re blessed to have such a special place in Baltimore!

Stayed here for a night to celebrate our wedding anniversary and was upgraded to a suite on the first floor with its own private terrace. Built in 1889, it has the charm and history that the more modern hotels (like Four Seasons) does not have. With only 18 rooms/suites, it also felt less crowded, which was a nice touch.||Recommend looking into this place if you're not in need of a pool or a harbor view. We're locals so none of that was important. What was important was an intimate setting, good restaurant and personal attention and it delivered.

I stayed at the Ivy for five days for a wedding. Everything administrative about my stay was an act of Congress. It took me over two months to reserve my room, and I had to provide my credit card information multiple times. The current reservation process is ineffective and should be revamped. The first day I arrived at the hotel, they were not expecting me because of an internal error. However, everyone I interacted with was kind despite the initial hiccup. Kudos to Calvin, Nick, and Tara. These three individuals were kind throughout my trip and went above and beyond. Due to an internal error, I could not stay in the room I booked the first night. Another concierge told me that my room wouldn’t be available and that I would have to hang out in the communal areas. For the price point of this hotel, this was very frustrating as I had several wedding events to attend. In addition, my card was charged multiple times throughout my stay despite paying a 50% deposit two months before I arrived and the remaining balance the day I arrived. Anytime I inquired about the charges, I was met with “I don’t know” or “Maybe it’s a test charge.” Again, for this hotel's price point, I do not expect to incur erroneous charges that cannot be explained. By the end of my trip, I had over $2k worth of unknown charges on my card. They eventually fell off, but no one ever explained the charges. I also asked to speak to a manager during my stay and was told Terry (the person I've been dealing with) was the only person who could help me. While I understand that this is a boutique hotel and, as a result, you may not have as many levers to pull in instances where things don’t go as planned compared to a franchise or more prominent hotel, for the amount of inconveniences I experienced, a bottle of wine that is served to everyone on an unlimited basis is not sufficient. ||Outside of the administrative issues I experienced, the staff at the hotel was genuinely amazing. They are some of the most thoughtful/proactive individuals I have ever encountered. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the restaurant staff!! The food and service were exceptional, from the hostess to the servers and the chef!
